Vibe coding

I learned a new term the other day, vibe coding.

Vibe coding (or vibecoding) is an approach to producing software by using artificial intelligence (AI), where a person describes a problem in a few sentences as a prompt to a large language model (LLM) tuned for coding.

This is right up my alley. I’ve started and stopped learning multiple programming languages throughout my nerd history, and have never been able to maintain the concentration to stick to one. Like hoping Linux distros, I hear news about language ‘B’ and I suddenly drop language ‘A’ to learn about it.

But this vibe stuff, well I just talk to the AI that will bring forth my doom in the future, and it just writes stuff up for me. That is pretty cool. I played with a little web stuff this morning, you can see it at eighties.parzzix.com and info.parzzix.com. They were both made with minimal fuss. Not super advanced, but feeding my whims for sure.

My next idea is to make a decent web app this way, something actually useful to me. I am thinking a private contact manager that I can use to sync contacts to my mobile devices. At least that is what I am thinking.

In the end, this is fun and I can burn endless hours this way, it’s like playing World of Warcraft, but I’m sort of being productive. I’ll share what’s up in a few days if I get something up and running.
